WHLR at Isle of Palms Doggie Day

Pet lovers are invited to the 2010 Doggie Day at the Rec! The action starts at 9 am and runs til 1 pm.

This annual event features a rabies clinic from 9 am - 11 am, pet photos, local rescue groups, pet-related businesses & sponsors, AND (drum roll, please) at 10 am the main event begins... a fantastic, fun-filled Dog Show!

Be sure and stop by our booth for cute doggy decals, magnets, groovy tshirts, dogdannas, scrunchy collar covers and more! Meet our adoptable, adorable Labs and friendly volunteers.

We will be set up beside our friends at Lowcountry Golden Retriever Rescue inside the Rec Center near the show ring and outside near the front doors (weather permitting.) Pick your favorite flavor of retriever while supporting local rescue efforts!

Joey, an adoptable Wild Heir Lab/ Dalmation mix says, "This is a really convenient and inexpensive way to get your BFF (Best Furry Friend) his rabies vaccination. The clinic runs from 9 am to 11 am, and will be located at one of my favorite hang outs, the Bark Park behind the Rec Center on 29th Ave.''

"Oh, I almost forgot! IOP city dog licenses are available with proof of rabies vaccination."

Gunner's Happy Tail

It was a year ago that I adopted Gunner at the Sportsman's Classic. I wanted to upload pictures to the website but I couldn't. I just wanted you to know how much we love him. To refresh your memory, he was tied to a tree at Frances Marion National Forest near a hunting club.
He is still skittish to some degree but has made progress. He is very jealous of my other dog. If I try to give Rebel some attention, Gunner will come over there and start nipping on me. He sleeps in the bed with me as well as Rebel. Thank goodness I have a king size bed.

Skutt/Killian's Happy Tail

Thought you'd like to see how Skutt is doing these days... He loves being a therapy dog and visits a nursing home every Wednesday!

The Golden in the photos are his best friend, "Lily". They visit the nursing home together every week and play together whenever they get the chance!

We just love our Skutter! He brings quite a few laughs into the house on a DAILY basis!

Thanks for rescuing him for us!!!

Chance's Happy Tail

I adopted Chance - a yellow lab w/ a little golden retriever thrown in - from Wild Heir following Pet Expo. I just wanted to let you know how terrific he is. As many strays are in our area, he was heartworm positive. After some soul searching, we decided to take the aggressive treatment route. He came through beautifully and is running with me almost every day. He travelled with us to Canada for Christmas and practically swam in the snow. Some fun. Thanks to all of you for saving him from the Georgetown shelter. A special thanks to George Hayes for making the effort to bring him to Pet Expo.
