Ray

My name is Ray! I'm a one year old Lab and I'm super sweet! I love to play and wrestle with my foster brothers and sisters and I LOVE to carry my football toy in my mouth as I run the yard. I'm still young and have lots of energy, but I'm pretty well behaved in the house. I like to walk on the beach. Oh, by the way, did I mention that I'm blind? It doesn't slow me down a bit, I'm very smart and quickly learn new environments - if you saw me in my foster home you wouldn't know that I'm blind! My perfect home would be with a family that has children and lots of love to give. Also, a younger dog as a playmate would be the best! That way they could show me around until I get used to my new home. Sometimes older dogs don't like me so much because I run into them - I really just want to be friends, but they don't understand! I love my foster family, but I'm really ready for my forever family so I can give them lots and lots of love!!!

Ray is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and neutered

Killian/Tony

Update: Killian has been adopted.

Killian (the lab formerly known as Tony) is a lanky 2 year old who loves to play! Give him a squeaky toy or ball and he is in heaven. Tony is great pal to hang out with and knows his basic commands. He's currently in a foster home with other dogs and children. He loves to go running and swimming at the dog park and is just as content relaxing with you at home. He has a loving demeanor and is always wagging his tail. He is very even tempered, great with cats and other dogs. He is house trained, listens well, and walks great on a leash. He is looking for a Best Friend he can play and hang out with. Would be a great dog for a first time dog owner, as well as a family looking to make a new addition. Tony is ready for his forever home and would love to have other dogs to play with and keep him company!

Update: Goose has been adopted.

Hi. I'm Goose - a 3 1/2 year old happy go lucky Labby! I'm well behaved, but still have my puppy spirit and a sense of adventure. I used to live with a cat, my dog brother Bosco, and 2 young children - but for some reason my people couldn't take care of me, so now the nice ladies at Wild Heir brought me to a foster family while I wait for my forever home. I like going out on the boat and am used to be around guns for hunting. Please take me home so I can love you for life!

Body, Mind & Spirit for Dogs and Their People is just around the corner (June 4th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Fetch Doggy Day Care in West Ashley) and we have some exciting updates: Animal Communicator, Barbara Rawson is going to be joining us for the evening! Have you ever wondered why your dog does some of the crazy things he does? Do you wish you could ask your rescue dog where she came from and why she ended up at the shelter? Now's your chance! Barbara Rawson will ask your dog questions and they will respond via telepathy - mental communication. For more information on how this process works, visit Barbara's website at www.completeanimal.com. To schedule a session with Barbara at Body, Mind & Spirit for Dogs and Their People, call Fetch Doggy Day Care at 843-225-3647. These sessions will fill up fast, so we recommend calling ahead to schedule a time for you and your dog!

We're also pleased to announce that local children's book author, Kristin Hackler, will be joining us at the event and signing copies of her book, Christmas Weather. When Santa loses his list of all the children on the Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island, it's up to an unlikely duo to save Christmas for the island kids. Weather, a true hound dog with a keen sense of smell, teams up with a smart yet bothersome cat named Pip to find out who's been good on the islands and learns a little about the Christmas spirit along the way.

This promises to be a fun evening for you and your BFF (best fur friend) - we hope to see you there!

Cooper & Clyde

Update: Cooper & Clyde have been adopted.

This is a courtesy listing

Meet Cooper & Clyde. Cooper is 6 yrs. old and Clyde is 3. Sadly, their owner, at only 42 years old, passed away recently of cancer. His elderly parents are still grieving themselves and can't care for these dogs. These sweet boys have lost the only home they have ever known! They have been together their entire lives and are currently being fostered in Pennsylvania (transport out of state can be arranged with an approved adoption application). Both boys absolutely LOVE people and are good with children - cats are unknown at this point. We are looking for someone that will take both Cooper and Clyde - they have been through so much already, they really need to stay together! They are both well behaved and housetrained, but do require a home with a secure fenced yard as they have been known to go wandering if left unattended. Cooper and Clyde are both neutered and heartworm negative. They are up to date on their vaccinations and on monthly heartworm preventative.

This is a courtesy listing - if you can open your heart and offer a loving forever home to Cooper and Clyde, please contact Kim Sellers (foster mom) at 814-793-2867 or email KSSDSS26@aol.com for further information.

Jake & Beethoven - Together for the Rest of Their Days!

Jake and Beethoven

Jake and Beethoven are two ten year olds that had been together their whole lives, until one day they found themselves dumped in a high kill shelter and their world turned upside down. Their owners decided that they were allergic to these sweet old souls! Daisy's Place (a special WHLR program dedicated to saving and finding loving homes for Labs and Lab mixes six years and older) brought them into rescue, but sadly could not find a foster home for both of them, so they had to be separated. Beethoven, the more outgoing of the two, continued to be his happy go lucky self, with a tail wag for everyone. But Jake missed his brother terribly and became quiet and withdrawn. Until one lucky day when Daisy's Place got the call that someone was interested in adopting the two of them! Now Jake and Beethoven are together again in their forever home where they will spend the rest of their days being loved and cherished. Jake has started wagging his tail again - and these two old boys are a living testament that miracles do happen! Daisy's Place is eternally grateful to Patricia Altshul and Micheal Kelcourse for opening their hearts and home to Beethoven and Jake.

Buddha

An update from Buddha

Hi from Buddha at Summer Camp! It's me, Buddha, writing to you from my new foster family's house, or as I like to call it, summer camp. I've been with Daisy's Place and Wild Heir for six weeks now and I'm a super happy guy! Every morning I go jogging and then I race back to get in the pool for my first swim of the day. I LOVE the water ... that's me in the photo with 'Wilson'. My foster mom says I'm the most graceful swimmer ... I just glide through the water. I'm having fun with my foster brother and sister and most of all, I just love to be with my people. I'm the kind of guy who will follow you around the house and sit at your feet. I also love to play ball - I'm a great retriever, I'll even retrieve cans out of the recycle when you throw them in and bring them right back to you! I'm having a great time at summer camp, but I'd really like to find my forever home with my own people to love for the rest of my days. I'll be happiest with someone who will give me lots of exercise and hopefully take me swimming - I would love to be with you all day, either at work or at home!
Buddha and Wilson

Hi - I'm Buddha. When I came to Daisy's Place at Wild Heir I didn't have a name - I'd been abandoned in a shelter and all they gave me was a number! So the nice lady that saved me said she saw the wisdom on the ages in my beautiful amber eyes - and I'm a peaceful, gentle soul - so she named me Buddha. I'm also a soft cuddly teddy bear, I really like to be with people. I go right into my crate if asked, but I'd really prefer to sleep next to my people's bed 'cuz I get lonely. If you're looking for a bff (best fur friend!) to hang out with - I'm your guy! I'm the perfect age - about 7 years old - so I'm happy to sit and watch movies on a rainy day or go out and about to the dog park or the beach. I'm easy going, but still have a lot of pep in my step! I always have a tail wag and big smile for everyone I meet. I'm heartworm negative and neutered - all I need now is my forever home, I've got a great big heart and lots of love to give!

Violet

Single Black Mature Female looking for a lifetime companion. My name is Violet and I'm about 10 years old, I enjoy sleeping in late, long walks twice a day and heavy napping in between. I like cats and prefer to hang with dogs my own age.

Violet and cat

I'm very well behaved and stay close to my people. I do well on walks, I don't pull on the leash. I don't beg for food, but wouldn't mind a piece of cheese once in awhile! Oh, and I really love a little rice with chicken as a special treat! My one and only vice is nibbling on dirt occasionally (while gardening with my foster mom), although I'm finally learning that I don't feel so well after I eat it - so maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks! I'm hard of hearing, but I make up for it with devotion and sweetness. I can climb stairs and am really quite a spry old gal. And did I mention that I'm really low maintenance and love peace and quiet? I only bark when necessary and I do not chew, dig or destroy things. Like a fine wine, I too, have mellowed with age and am ready for my forever home!
