March 31, 2009

Do you have a couple of free hours a week? Are you a planner? Do you know how to throw a great party? Are you comfortable going to businesses and individuals and asking for donations of goods, services and cash? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you might want to join the newly forming Fund Raising Committee!

One of our volunteers has agreed to chair this committee but needs lots of help. If you would like to be part of this particular volunteer team, please email info@wildheirlabradorrescue.org.

The first fund raiser will be the 2nd Annual Bow Wow Luau in June. Last year's Luau was a great success, and with a dedicated group, we know we can do better!

Another great member of the pack suggested we do something at the Carolina Ice Palace. It's a great venue to relieve the summer's heat and keep our organization going during the months when it's just too hot to have our dog parties outside.

If you have any other ideas please let us know. You can submit ideas even if you don't have time to work on the committee!

Sissy

Update: Sissy has been adopted.

Sissy is a 6 month old girl, crate trained and knows basic commands. She loves attention and is great with kids. She is scared of some men at first but once she gains their trust-no problem. She's working on walking nicely on a leash and some basic tricks. She will jump through fire hoops for treats, so she would be easy to train to do all kinds of cool stuff!

Adrienne is one of our valued Wild Heir volunteers. Her employer, Robert Half International celebrated their 60th anniversary by promoting community outreach worldwide. The company encouraged its employees to volunteer their time, setting an ambitious goal of 60,000 outreach hours. With Adrienne's help, the local office in Charleston logged more than 100 hours per employee and came in third worldwide. They were given two $1,000 grants to donate to the non-profit of their choice, and thanks to Adrienne, Wild Heir is one of the lucky recipients of that grant money! Company-wide, the big hearted people at Robert Half International logged more than 70,000 hours! Way to go!

So THANK YOU Adrienne! The hard work you do at our events and the funds you raised helps Wild Heir bring many more precious Labs into rescue. Thank you also to all the Robert Half International employees who participated - you are shining examples of how we can all work together to make a difference!

Update:Lucy has been adopted.

Hi! I'm Lucy, a beautiful 7 mos. old Golden Retriever. Some of my best friends are Labs, which is how I ended up at Wild Heir Lab Rescue! I love other dogs and kids, and all the usual puppy things. I have lots of energy and whoever takes me home to be their forever fur child needs to remember that I'm still a baby and I need lots of attention! I'm a very good girl and am housebroken and crate trained ... now all I need is my forever family.

Amy's Happy Tail

Amy is still doing well. She is such a sweet and CALM girl. So different from other labs I have had. The one exception is that she is dying to go see the cows. Everyday when we are outside she tries to drag the kids down the yard to get to the cows. Here is a picture of the kids and Amy.

Bruno

Update: Bruno has been adopted.

Bruno is about seven years young and is a big loveable chocolate teddy bear! He is a very well mannered guy, walks well on a leash and definitely likes his creature comforts - Bruno is not a dog that does well being left alone outside all day. He likes to be with his people! Bruno loves everyone - two and four legged alike. If you're looking for a loyal, loving fur friend with a heart of gold - Bruno is the Lab for you!

Bruno is neutered, up to date on shots and housebroken.

Lady and her puppies

Lady is a beautiful 4 year old black Lab. She is a very attentive mother. She's very sweet and friendly and likes everybody she meets.

She has lived outside up until now and had not learned any indoor manners. Now that she has enough food to eat, she is calming down and turning into a delightful dog that really enjoys being around people. She's smart and learns quickly and does like to please.

On March 8, 2009, Lady gave birth to a litter of 13 (count 'em, 13!) puppies that are being well cared for by both mom and foster mom.

Bear

Update: Bear has been adopted.

Meet Bear! He's a gorgeous 6 year old black lab with an easy going personality. Bear was previously adopted, but sadly was returned to Wild Heir when the younger male dog in the house started showing aggression towards him. Bear doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body and never fought back when attacked. Bear's new parents were heart broken, but knew that it was for the best that Bear come back into rescue so that he could have a chance to find a forever home where he would be safe. Bear is a loving dog that wants to find his forever home - if you take him into your heart and home, Bear will love you for life!

Mama

Mama is approximately 8-10 years young and came to us from a shelter in North Carolina. She had been there for several months as she was taken away from her previous owners due to animal cruelty and neglect. Even after all she's been through, she's the sweetest girl you will ever meet! She loves everyone and all other dogs. Mama was in foster with a small puppy and she cared for and cleaned the little one as if it were her own. Mama is a rather petite lady weighing approximately 40 pounds. She has adorable little white 'ankle socks' and a beautiful white face. She loves to go to the park and for walks and is also very content to curl up and watch a good movie at night! Mama would be forever grateful to find a loving family of her own!

Minnie

Update: Minnie has been adopted.

Hi my name is Minnie and I am 4 years old! At my foster home I live with 3 cats and another dog. We all get along very well. I like being with another dog to keep me company. I am house broken, crate trained and walk on a leash very well. My foster mom takes me to work every day at The Habitat ReStore in Mt Pleasant. This has helped with my social skills. We also go to the dog park a lot. I prefer to be around women. My foster Mom thinks maybe I had a bad experience with a man. It took about a week to really warm up to my Mom. But now I love to lay on the floor with her. It's awesome to get brushed and massaged. Who knew humans could be this great! I was only 50lbs when I arrived from Greenville but, I have put on 15 lbs and Dr Patrick says I look much better. I have been spayed, micro-chipped and I am up to date on all my shots. Please know that who ever adopts me will need patience and understanding so that I can feel secure in my forever home - but once I get to know you, I'll love you for life!

Ben

Update: Ben has been adopted.

Well, this is Ben and he's got the coolest hair coloring we've seen in a while AND the best Lab personality! He's a happy fellow just looking for a responsible home who will keep him safe and loved. Due to improper veterinary care in his previous life, Ben is positive for heartworms and will be undergoing treatment for this very common yet easily treatable and prevent able disease. If you'd like to know more about this wonderful guy, just drop us a line!

Chester

Update: Chester has been adopted.

Hi Everyone! I'm Chester, or Chessie, as my foster mom likes to call me. I'm a beautiful Golden Lab (part Lab and part Golden Retriever - what a great combination!) and I'm very friendly! I love everyone - including kids and other dogs. I especially LOVE lots of attention as I'm a big sweetheart. I don't dig or chew on anything - other than my toys. I'm very good in the house. My perfect day involves going to the beach or fetching the ball, then relaxing at night with my foster family. I love it here, but I'm looking for my forever family.
