Sweet Tea's happy tail

We are writing to thank you for saving Sweet Tea and for the joy she is bringing to our lives. She is such a sweet girl and from the moment we met her she became a part of our family. Tea is very well-behaved, she loves both Cathy and me, and really has taken to the kids. She even loves to play with the cats. She has been for boat rides, loves car tides and is going through obedience training and is very smart. We are happy to have her in our family and can't imagine life without her now. Having no back-story on her was a bit scary,, but you gave us a chance to test her out in our home and make sure she was the dog for us. For that we are grateful. This dog matches her name...she truly is a Sweet Tea.

Sadie

Update: Sadie has been adopted.

Miss Sadie is a spry 8 year old who came from the Darlington shelter. Sadly her owner has cancer and could no longer keep Sadie and her house mate, Molly - a husky mix. Wild Heir brought Sadie into Daisy's Place - dedicated to saving and finding loving homes for Labs and Lab mixes six years and older - and delivered Molly to safety with another rescue organization. Sadie is a super sweet, easy going older gal who loves everyone - she would love a good home with someone who likes to snuggle! She is currently in a foster home with cats - and she loves to play with other dogs! Sadie is up to date on all her shots and is heartworm negative.

Thanks a million for helping us pick out the perfect pet to complete our little family!

Update:> Bailey has been adopted.

Bailey is as sweet at they come! She loves both people and dogs and really enjoys playing with her foster sister. She also enjoys giving us sweet kisses and hanging out with us on the couch. She is very curious about our cat and hasn't quite figured him out yet. Bailey is crate trained, house trained, and knows how to sit. She would make a wonderful new member of the family for anyone!

Just wanted to let you know how Gunner is doing and to share a few pictures.. He already knows how to go through the doggy door by himself. He hasn't had any accidents. He is already sleeping in the bed with me. He listens when you tell him NO. I am going to see about some obedience lessons for him. He is such a pretty and sweet boy. Thank you for the wonderful work your organization does.

WHLR at SEWE Day 3

The weather for the final day of SEWE was much nicer than yesterday, although things did start cooling off a bit into the afternoon. Still, there were a lot of people going past the WHLR booth. Lots of interest in adopting labs was generated making SEWE very successful for WHLR. Thanks to everybody who stopped by and supported WHLR!

Trip

Update: Trip has been adopted.

Trip is a lucky guy who has the distinguishing characteristic of having only half an ear on one side! This appears to be an old war injury and doesn't affect this handsome, lovable fellow in the slightest. He's young, he's fun and with a little training and stability, Trip can be your next family companion.

WHLR at SEWE Day 2

It was an overcast and rainy day at SEWE today, but there were still a ton of people stopping by the WHLR booth checking things out, meeting our dogs and holding the puppies.

See the rest of today's photos from SEWE in our photo gallery.

Toby

Update: Toby has been adopted.

Toby is a gorgeous, 8 year old gentleman whose owners had to move to an apartment due to a job change to another city and their inability to sell their home. He ia a sweet boy who was raised with children, cats and another dog. He enjoys being the low key guy that he is, car rides, long walks and a good game of fetch. Toby is a wonderful soul in need of a loving, permanent home who can take care of his sensitive stomach and allergies.

Lucy

Update: Lucy has been adopted.

Lucy is about 3 years old, beautiful red lab, spayed female, very strong and healthy. She LOVES to play and needs to be outdoors where she has lots of room to run. She loves the water and would probably enjoy going out on a boat. Lucy is content to stay outdoors at night, but wants lots of love and attention from her owner. She should not be around chickens or small dogs that resemble chickens. Lucy is not one to start a fight but will not back away from one either...she has a bit of alpha in her - very important that her new owner knows how to be a good pack leader to give Lucy the discipline she desires!

Morris

Update: Morris has been adopted.

Say hello to Morris, a wonderful young labby who is approximately 6 months old! He is the prettiest dog I have seen (maybe I should say handsomest). For a younger dog he is very calm and not at all hyper. He is happiest when he is around other dogs and loves to go on walks. He has a big and wonderful heart that wants to love you. Since being with his foster family he has never had an accident in the house or in his crate. He prefers each evening to lie under your feet and follow you around the house whenever you move. He is timid and shy around people most of the time. He wants to come to you when called, but he is unsure. Something a little love should overcome. He is very good around children of all ages, other animals including cats and wags his tail and wants to play and be loved. We are working daily on dog commands, and he is trying to learn what he needs to do to be a great dog. He spends the days outside if the weather is nice now, but always stays inside with his foster family in the evenings. Please consider giving beautiful sweet Morris a forever home! Thank you, Morris' Foster Mom

Chloe

Update: Chloe has been adopted.

Chloe is a sweet two year old rescued from an area high-kill shelter. She was just beginning to settle into her new foster home near Myrtle Beach when her foster mom suspected she was going to have puppies. On December 22, Chloe delivered six adorable, robust puppies. Chloe was a wonderful mother who took excellent care of her puppies and is now anxious to begin the rest of her life in a loving forever home.

Chloe.jpg

Chloe gets along with other dogs, but truly would prefer to be an only dog with all attention lavished on her. She is very well behaved in the house. Completely housebroken, not hyper, no chewing and only barks when the doorbell rings (or one that sounds like ours on T.V.) Chloe has learned not to chase the cat, although she might still do it if no one was looking. Her trusting eyes follow me constantly and she is always near me. She is happy to lay at your feet, or cuddle on the couch. She listens very well and will be highly trainable.

Chloe2.jpg

Chloe would be an excellent companion for someone looking for a loyal, reserved companion. Chloe is a smaller dog, weighing about 45 lbs. Although she can run and play with the best of them she would rather be around a human she loves than other dogs. She has not been tested around small children, but is great around older children.

If you are looking for a special life-long companion, Chloe is your girl.

Bella

Update: Bella has been adopted.

Bella is an alert, fun-loving, sweet dog. She loves to be around people but is not too clingy; she's affectionate and gives lots of kisses, but is not in your face all the time. She loves to run and visit the dog park. She sits on command, comes when called, and even shakes hands. She's good in the house as long as she gets exercise. She's great with other dogs and is ok with inside cats, loves to chase cats outdoors though. Her ears are too cute - they stick out sideways - and her tail curls over her back when she's trotting around. She's still got a beautiful slick puppy coat and shouldn't get too much bigger in size.

Because she's got quite a bit of energy, Bella would love an active home or one with a playful dog for her to run around with. Bella will jump a little on people with puppy exuberance but she's responding well to gentle correction. Still, she'd probably not be best with the very young or very old.

Maddy update

Looks like Maddy got to enjoy a little bit of snow in her new home. An update from her new parents:

Just a note to update you on our sweet Maddy. I have attached a couple of pictures of her playing in the "snow" a couple of weeks ago with her favorite throw toy called the chuck-it. Actually any toy is her favorite toy, especially the raccoon and tiger she sleeps with. She is precious, so easy and even the cats have warmed up to her as they realize she does not want to hurt them. She never jumps up, doesn't beg for food from the table and just wants her walks around the neighborhood with her family. Thank you so much for saving her.
