Sazy

Update: Sazy has been adopted.

Sazy is an extra tall girl who is about a year old. Here's what her foster dad has to say about her! "Here is Sazy looking sassy. A statement on getting to know her: When Sazy came to my house she was very timid with new people and is still a bit cautious when a new person shows up but a kind word sends her right to anyone. She is proof that all beautiful dogs are not pure bred. She has long legs and is still skinny and anxious to get her food. She has a long nose for a lab and loves to squeeze it between your arm and body. She is all lab as far as thinking and loves to shred toys and even newspapers, but she has not touched one shoe or piece of furniture. Like young labs her back legs are not always keeping up with the rest of her but she pretends not to notice. She has a hound's bark and is good with dogs and children. She has grabbed for treats in my hand but never laid a tooth on my fingers. She is house trained, though you have to watch for her pacing which is how you know she is uncomfortable. She always responds when called so she is partly trained and very trainable. She needs someone to spend time with her and assure her the bad days are gone and will repay a kind person with lots of affection." Sweet Sazy is an awesome girl looking for a wonderful family to open their hearts and home to a very grateful rescued retriever!

Seth and Sam

Update: Seth and Sam have been adopted.

Seth and Sam are 12 year old brothers who were owner surrendered (MOVING!) to the Greenville kill shelter and have spent their entire lives together. They are very sweet, love to cuddle with you and and are in good shape for their age, i.e. active with no disabilities. They like to ride in the car and get along with anything.

Seth enjoys playing with his ball and getting belly rubs. Sam enjoys running around in the grass with his ball and hanging out with his brother. He is a sweet soul who loves people, giving kisses and leaning into you for a good scratch!

They are both un-neutered and heartworm positive. All they need is a backyard or screened porch to be happy, although a soft dog bed and a warm home would be nice, too. We would love to place them together in a forever home.

Update: Jordie has been adopted.

Jordie is a 10 year old loving, fun and handsome Lab. He currently lives on Folly Beach with his foster mom where he plays, surfs the beach and chills around the house. He loves people, children and other animals. Jordie's personality is contagious, everyone just adores him! Being that his foster mom is an artist he has his own portrait which goes with him when he finds his forever home!

Dixie

Dixie is a 13 year old mix in need of a forever home. She is in excellent health though is sometimes a little hard of hearing. She is spayed, current on shots, heartworm free, house broken, well behaved, lovable and leash trained. She loves to take long walks and be in the company of others. She is not very fond of a small child who will pull on her - she is just too old for that kind of patience. She would probably do well in a home with another pet as long as that pet is not aggressive. She is not on HW prevention meds since we have had her in July, but has been on flea prevention meds.

I rescued a human today.

My Google-fu reveals that this started circulating various pet-related forums fairly recently.

I'm not 100% positive about the author citation. Most of the places I found this didn't cite an author, a couple said Author Unknown and a handful gave the author as one Janine Allen. Going with the handful, I decided that's who I should give the author credit to.

Update: Thanks for the comment, Janine, confirming authorship.

I rescued a human today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had made in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.

I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

Form issues

With the migration to the new website, a few issues popped up with submitting adoption, volunteer and foster forms online that caused them to disappear into the big bit bucket instead of being emailed to the people they were supposed to go to.

If you filled out one of the forms online in the last couple of days, please go back and resubmit the form again so that your request can be properly processed.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. The webmonkeys responsible have been appropriately punished.
